In
the winter of '91, as the first bush was dropping bombs on Iraq,
Mitch walked into an organic food store where Jim was playing Fred
Frith on the store's sound system at a loud volume. Instantly becoming
friends, they collaborated over several musical styles before settling,
for the while, on the interweavings of light and dark known to many
as the BiPolar Bears. Since being laid off years ago from the high-tech
company that he started, Mitch, when not diverted here and there
by supporting himself monetarily, uses his time by helping many
of the non-profits and causes in San Francisco with their lighting,
sound, and computer needs. Jim raises cats and has effectively run
small offices since getting fired from the organic food store.
